Microsoft has changed the licensing terms for our "users" regarding Office 365. To adhere to these terms, UWM is required to transition all users to match their new licensing model. Therefore:
  • If you are a Student, Faculty, or Staff of UWM, you will have access to all of UWM's Office 365 resources.
  • If you are Non-Student/Non-Faculty/Non-Staff, you will have access to all of  UWM's Office 365 resources EXCEPT to the Office 365 ProPlus desktop applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook).
  • If you hold multiple relationships with the university and AT LEAST ONE of them are StudentFaculty, or Staff, you will have access to all of UWM's Office 365 resources.

What Non-Student/Non-Faculty/Non-Staff should know

If you currently have the Office 365 ProPlus desktop applications installed on a computer, this software will deactivate and convert to read-only mode after a 30-day grace period.

If this is installed on a university-owned computer that is managed by CTS, submit a help request to see if alternative solutions may be available to you by contacting the UWM Help Desk at (414) 229-4040, toll free at (877) 381-3459, or submitting a help request online at Please include the computer name or serial tag in the request (PC instructions / Mac instructions).

If this is installed on a personally-owned computer, because you are either an emeritus or retired employee, you will not be able to continue using the Pro Plus version on your home computer.  You will be able to access the software on UWM-owned machines, should you be working on campus.  However, you may need to use one of the alternative solutions:

If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact the UWM Help Desk at (414) 229-4040, toll free at (877) 381-3459, visit Bolton Hall 225, or submit a help request online at
