What is my UWM User ID?

When you are admitted to UWM as a student or hired at UWM as an employee, you will receive communication containing your Campus ID (student number/employee ID) and instructions to activate your account. You will be assigned an email address after activating your account. However, as a student your email address will only become functional after you are eligible to enroll in classes.

Once your account is activated you will receive your user ID. Everyone at UWM has a user ID, which is often times referred to as an ePantherID. User IDs are used to access various services at UWM in conjunction with a password and a second method of authentication (MFA/2FA). Depending on the service of access, a user may be required to apply only their user ID/ePantherID, or they may need to enter the full user ID followed by @uwm.edu. This is often referred to as an email address, but it is important to note that this is not always a functioning address.

Not all users will have access to Microsoft's services (mail, calendar, Microsoft apps), and the @uwm.edu suffix also allows a user to gain access to that service, such as PAWS. In short, you will not be able to send or receive emails with this address as it is not a functioning UWM email account. By simply adding @uwm.edu to the end of your ePantherID, it forms another UWM user ID that is required for accessing such campus services as PAWS.

To log into PAWS, Microsoft 365 or other services that utilize Microsoft Azure, enter your ePantherID@uwm.edu and your password and authenticate with your second method.
