Updating Campus Network Storage in Windows

Use these instructions to access network storage space on University Managed Windows devices.
University Managed Windows devices use policies to map network storage to drive letters. On July 7, 2020 campus IT Staff combined multiple drive mappings into a singular drive mapping to create a common interface for users. If you are unable to view the "Shares S:" drive, this article contains troubleshooting steps.

On-Campus Device

  1. If you are using a device on the UWM campus and connect to the campus network, they can go to software center and run the "Group Policy Update – gpupdate" utility in Software Center.
  2. Open Software Center.
  3.  Click on Group Policy Update – gpupdate application and select install.
  4. A black box will appear stating "Updating policy...".

  5. Once the box disappears (If could take a few minutes) the new "Shares S:" drive mapping should appear in your "This PC".
This setting will stay and you should not have run the Group Policy Update application again.
