ePanther Account – Set Up Self-Service Password Reset
Yearly password changes are required at UWM. To ensure that your account is set up properly to change your own password, follow the steps below.
If you do not set up the self-service password recovery methods, you will need to contact the UWM Help Desk if you forget your password or for the yearly password update.
Because the UWM Help Desk must verify your identity, this can be a time-consuming process and may take away time that you need to complete coursework. Once you configure the self-service password reset, you can quickly and easily update your password as needed.
When you log into your account using any UWM online service, if you see the following screen you will need to take an additional action:
When you click Next, you will be taken to the Keep your account secure screen:
These screens could indicate either the need to set up Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) or to set up your self-service password reset.
- If you are an applicant at UWM or if you have already set up MFA, this is prompting you to set up your self-service password reset.
- If you have already set up your self-service password reset, this is prompting you to set up MFA. See our article Microsoft MFA (How To) Enroll Authenticator App From a Sign In Prompt for more information.
When setting up your self-service password reset:
- The following methods are acceptable for self-service password resets: Microsoft Authenticator App, text message/phone call to a device that you have access to, alternate email address or 3 security questions.
