Canvas Portfolios - Getting Started
About
Canvas Portfolios provide structured, purpose-built spaces for students to collect, reflect on, and curate evidence of their learning. Portfolios help students demonstrate progress toward developing competencies, and tell a cohesive story of academic and skill development over time.
Uses
Canvas Portfolios is a teaching tool designed to structure the development of student learning. This can be used to create a portfolio of student competencies and learning, or a portfolio individually curated to showcase a learner’s skills as they develop. There are two kinds of Canvas Portfolios: evaluation and showcase.
Evaluation Portfolios
Evaluation portfolios are templated with a predefined structure, instructions, and expectations. These are tied to a single course and are typically revisited throughout the semester.
Showcase Portfolios
Showcase portfolios are created independently by learners to showcase evidence of their skills and projects across multiple courses and semesters.
Note: There is no way to merge ePortfolio (Legacy) with the current Canvas Portfolios. To move existing ePortfolios to the new system, please export and recreate the portfolio.
