HRS (How To) Change Phone Number Using Self Service

This article will provide instructions on how to add or change your phone number in HRS.

Overview

With the switch from UWM’s old Centrex phone system to Microsoft Teams Calls, some users may have acquired a new phone number. If you wish to update this so it reflects when other users at UWM search for you in the directory follow the steps below:

 

Updating/Adding a phone number in HRS

  • Begin by going to uwm.edu and clicking on the drop-down menu for Faculty/Staff.

  • From the menu, select My UW System.

  • From the drop-down menu, select UW-Milwaukee and click Go.

  • Enter your ePantherID and Password and click Login.

  • Confirm your identity via your desired Duo security method (Push/Code Entry).

Authenticate with Duo

  • Next you will be brought to your HRS home page. Click on the Personal Information tile.

  • From here click on the link titled Update My Personal Information below the Home Address heading.

  • Click Contact Details in the left side menu.

  • Determine if you wish to UPDATE your existing Business phone number (aka office number, Centrex line, individual line) or ADD a new phone number.

 

UPDATING AN EXISTING NUMBER

  • Under the Phone heading, click on the existing phone number you wish to change.

  • In the Phone Numberbox that appears:
    1. Select the phone number Typefrom the drop-down menu.
      • Note: If you wish to mark a Business or Business Other number as Preferred, check the respective box. 
    2. Enter the Number you would like to update in the respective box.
    3. Click Save in the top right corner of the Phone Number box.

  1. Note: If you wish to remove a phone number click the Delete button in the Phone Number box.
  • Your number will now be updated in HRS and will be searchable in the UWM directory.
    • Note: It will take 1-2 business days for your phone number changes to appear in the uwm.edu people directory. 

 

ADDING A NEW NUMBER

  • Click the plus button above the list of phone numbers

  • In the phone number box that appears:
    1. Select the phone number Typefrom the drop-down menu.
      • Note: If you wish to mark a Business or Business Other number as Preferred, check the respective box. 
    2. Enter the new Number in the respective box.
    3. Click Save in the top right corner of the Phone Number box.

  • Your number will now be added to HRS and will be searchable in the UWM directory.
    • Note: It will take1-2 business days for your phone number changes to appear in the uwm.edu people directory.
