M365 Outlook WebApp (How To) Respond to Meeting Invitation

A short explanation of how to respond to a meeting request on Outlook on the web.

When you've been invited to a meeting, you will receive e-mail invitation which will give the following response options:

  • Accept: Outlook on the web adds the meeting to your schedule.

  • Tentative: The meeting's automatically added to your schedule.

  • Decline: Meeting will only appear on your calendar if you have set your calendar to display declined invitations.

  • Propose New Time: You can suggest another by clicking Propose New Time.  This will show the meeting on your calendar at the originally scheduled time until the organizer reschedules the meeting.

To respond to the invitation

  1. Log into Outlook on the web.
  2. Open the e-mail or calendar invitation.

    Choose Event ResponseO

  3. Click on the desired response. Make sure to send a response to the organizer so they can track your response.

Important: If you choose to not send your response to the organizer, they will not be able to track your response. It will appear as though you have not responded to the invitation even if you had accepted or declined the meeting request.

Note: If you cannot remember if you have responded to a meeting request, open the meeting from within your calendar and your response will be listed just below the title of the event.
