Emeritus/Annuitant Software Access Information

Software licenses for most applications are available only to current students or employees with active appointments. Emeriti and Annuitants are not legally considered active employees, and they generally cannot be covered by our software license agreements.

When  a person's UWM relationship with the institution changes from employee, instructor or other active staff designation to "emeritus", "annuitant" or "retiree", they may still need access to the software they used prior to their appointment changing.

Following are software programs that the UWM Help Desk most often fields questions about:
  • Microsoft Office Suite applications - Emeriti, Annuitants and Retirees will still be able to use the online/web versions of most Microsoft applications. Navigate to office.com and log in with your UWM credentials.  If you prefer the installed versions of the apps, you will need to purchase them. You may used the installed versions of the applications if you come to campus and use a departmental computer which has Office 2019 installed.
  • Adobe Acrobat - You will need to purchase your own license for the software. Adobe Acrobat is available for purchase at adobe.com
  • SAS - You will need to purchase your own license for the software.
  • JMP - You will need to purchase your own license for the software.
