Office365 (OneDrive for Business and SharePoint) - Limitations of OneDrive for Business and SharePoint
The following document outlines known limitations with OneDrive for Business and SharePoint.
- Individual file sizes larger than 15GB will not be able to be uploaded to OneDrive for Business and SharePoint using the web interface.
- OneDrive for Business can currently accommodate a 1 terabyte (the same as 1,000 gigabyte) total maximum storage capacity.
- Ensure that none of your file or folder names contain invalid characters.
- Common examples include: " # % * : < > ? / \ | ~+&{ }
- Here is a full list of invalid characters
- Verify that file names are within the character limit.
- File names can have up to 256 characters.
- Confirm that all files being uploaded fall within the valid file type guidelines.
- You can't upload files that have a *.tmp or *.ds_store extension, and you can't upload desktop.ini, thumbs.db, or ehthumbs.db files.
- Review any strings that may be at the end of your file and folder names.
- File and folder names may not end with any of the following strings:

- AUX, PRN, NUL, CON, COM0, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT0, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, LPT9
- When you sync OneDrive for Business with SharePoint Online, a folder named ''forms'' isn't supported at the root level for a list or library. In addition, the file and folder names cannot contain the _vti_ string such as .files_vti_cnf or _vti_txt
- Confirm that all files you are trying to upload are not open in any program.
- Any file that's currently open by an application (for example, an Excel .xlsx file) can't be synced by OneDrive for Business.
