PAWS Address Changes for Closed Accounts
The Bursar's Office sometimes finds that they need to refund monies to former students. When this happens, the former student needs to have their current address in their PAWS account, to allow the Bursar to mail their refund.
Sometimes the Bursar sends these customers to the UWM Help Desk to "reset the customer's password" or "reactivate their account" to allow them to change their address in PAWS. This will not be possible in cases where the customer account has been closed or dispatched. Resetting the customer's password will not work, since the account was deprovisioned. Additionally, customers separated more than one year from UWM will also need to set up Azure MFA to access PAWS, which also will fail, since they do not have a current relationship with the University.
These types of former students should be directed to fill out the PAWS change form. The Registrar's Office will then make the necessary changes to the customer's account. When the address has been updated in PAWS, the former student will be able to receive their refund in the mail.
