Windows (Quick Guide) Problem Steps Recorder

At times, it may be beneficial to document the user's step-by-step process when troubleshooting a problem. Problem Steps Recorder can be used to take screenshots throughout a process. The user could then email any related screenshots.

To access the Problem Steps Recorder, open the Start menu (in Windows 10) or click the magnifying glass on the Search screen (in Windows 8/8.1), and type "psr.exe". Click on the search button and then the resulting application.
The program will look like the screenshot below:
  1. Click Start Record.
  2. When the program is recording, continue per normal, and whenever a screenshot is desired, click Add Comment, and then drag to form a screenshot. A comment can also be made in the white box provided.
  3. Continue until the necessary amount of screenshots have been recorded.
  4. Click Stop Record, and choose a file name and save location.
  5. Click Save

NOTE: The screenshots will be saved as part of a .zip file.
