Browser friendly settings - Chrome on Mac

Chrome browser settings for use with Mac computers for UWM pages.

Reset your clock

  1. Hold Command and press Spacebar to open Spotlight Search, and type system preferences or click on the System Preferences gear icon in your Dock.
  2. Click Date & Time clock icon towards the bottom of the page.
  3. Click the lock to make changes and authenticate with your password or Touch ID.
  4. Change the time to the correct time or you can check the box to Set date and time automatically and choose the appropriate one from the list.
  5. Click the lock again to prevent further changes.

Allow Cookies

  1. In your Chrome browser, click the three dots in the top right corner of your screen. When you hover over it, it should say Customize and control Google Chrome.
  2. Click Settings, and then Privacy and Security on the sidebar.
  3. The third item should be Cookies and other site data.
  4. Click Allow all cookies.

Clear your cache

  1. In your Chrome browser, click the three dots in the top right corner of your screen. When you hover over it, it should say Customize and control Google Chrome.
  2. Click History, and then History again to the left. It will take you to your chrome history page at the following link: Chrome History Webpage 
  3. On the sidebar, click the button that says Clear browsing data.
  4. Check all boxes that apply, at a minimum you want cached images and files and cookies and other site data checked.
  5. Click clear data.

Update Content Settings

  1. In your Chrome browser, click the three dots in the top right corner of your screen. When you hover over it, it should say Customize and control Google Chrome.
  2. Click Settings, and then Privacy and security in the sidebar.
  3. Click Site settings.
  4. Scroll down to Content and click on JavaScript.
  5. Make sure < > Sites can use JavaScript is checked.

Update Java

  1. Navigate to the following link: Java Download Page.
  2. Click the Download Java button and agree to the prompts.
  3. Open the downloaded Java package and click Install.
     

Disable Extensions

  1. In your Chrome browser, click the three dots in the top right corner of your screen. When you hover over it, it should say Customize and control Google Chrome.
  2. Click Settings, and then click Extensions on the sidebar.
  3. Click the toggle for each extension. The circle below the extension being turned right means the extension is enabled, click it so that it moves to the left which means it
    has been disabled.
