Browser friendly settings - Mozilla Firefox 22-28 on Windows
Standard browser settings for use with UWM pages.
Find out what version you have, by clicking Help and then About Firefox. If you do not have a orange button in the upper left corner you have version 29 or higher.
- Click the time at lower right hand corner of the desktop.
- A window will appear entitled "Change date and time settings..."
- Click on Change time zone...
- Make sure the time zone is correct for your local time - for Milwaukee, choose (UTC -06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) from the drop-down menu.
- Ensure that the box Automatically adjust for daylight saving changes is checked.
- Click OK.
- Click Change date and time...
- Adjust Date and Time (as close to the minute as possible).
- Click OK.
- Click Apply.
- Click OK.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select Options.
- Click Content.
- Click Choose... under Languages.
- Click English/United States [en-us].
- If language does not appear select the dropdown box and scroll down to English/United States [en-us].
- Click English/United States [en-us].
- Click Add.
- Click Move Up.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select options.
- Select Privacy.
- Under "History" select Use custom settings for history.
- Check Accept cookies from sites and Accept third-party cookies.
- Click OK.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select options..
- Click Privacy.
- Under "History", click Clear your recent history.
- Under Time range to clear, select Everything.
- Check Cache.
- Click Clear Now.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select options.
- Type about:config in the address bar, then Enter.
- If prompted with a warning message, click Iâll be careful! I promise!
- Type browser.cache.check_doc_frequency into the Filter: box.
- Right-click on the entry that appears and select Modify.
- Change the value to 1.
- Click OK.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select options.
- Click the Content icon.
- Check Enable JavaScript.
- Click OK to exit Options.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select options.
- Click the Advanced icon.
- Click the Encryption tab.
- Check Use SSL 3.0.
- Check Use TLS 1.0.
- Click OK to exit Options.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Go to www.java.com.
- On the page should be a download link - click on it.
- Download the latest Java version to your computer.
- Install Java by following the directions it provides.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select options.
- Click History.
- Then click Clear Recent History...
- Click Manage Add-ons... under "General."
- Click Extensions.
- Click Disable for all Extensions.
- Close all open browser windows.
- Open Mozilla Firefox. Click the orange button and then select 'options' or press the 'Tools' option and then select options.
- Click Applications.
- Scroll down to 'Portable Document Format (PDF).
- Select any option other than Preview in Firefox.
- Close all open browser windows.
