Office 365 (Known Issues) - Limited Functionality in Outlook 2011 for Mac

All unresolved issues are being looked into by support staff or have been escalated to the appropriate vendor. If you have found an issue with your account's migration or with Office 365, please contact the UWM Help Desk at 414-229-4040 (toll-free 877-381-3459) or submit a request at GetTechHelp.uwm.edu.

Basic Information: You may find that Outlook 2011 on Macs does not contain the full range of functionality as Outlook 2013/2016.

Impact: Individuals will be unable to perform certain operations within the Outlook 2011 desktop client. Known limitations include:
  • Accessing some shared calendars that have been accepted in OotW.
  • Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 does not update your Microsoft Exchange calendar when you accept a meeting request. When you accept a meeting and then select Do not Send a Response, Outlook for Mac 2011 updates your local calendar but does not update the calendar on your Exchange mailbox.
  • Add Contact Group option may be grayed out.
  • Contact groups are not saved to the Exchange server. Any groups that you create are saved on your computer and are available only in Outlook 2011 for Mac.
Workaround:  For full functionality, use Outlook 2013/2016 on a Windows machine.
