Using Snipping Tool to save screenshots

The snipping tool is a tool in Microsoft Windows that allows you to capture and save screenshots. This tool can come in handy in many situations, for example: a professor asks a students for proof of completion of an assignment. This tool can save a screenshot of a completion screen that a student can then send or upload via D2L.

Starting the Snipping Tool application

Begin by searching for "Snipping Tool" in the Windows search bar and click the "Snipping Tool" program

Once it opens up, you will be presented with a small window.

Taking screenshots

Click the new button. The window will disappear and you must now click and drag to create a selection box of what you are screen capturing. Only what is in the red box will be what is captured.

Afterwards, the snipping tool window will reappear with the selected content. Proceed to save by hitting File and then Save As... Save wherever you prefer.
