SOIS Webspace (How To) - Create a backup of your Entire cPanel Account

This document was written to assist users of the SOIS cPanel system create a backup of their entire cPanel account for archival purposes.

1. Login to your cPanel account at cPanel Login (uwm.edu) 

2. Click the Backup Wizard link in the Files section of the WHM home page.

3. Click the Back Up button.backup button

4. Click the Home Directory button under Select Partial Backup.

5. Click the Home Directory button.

6. Click the Go Back link. go back

7. Click the Databases button under Select Partial Backup.

8. Click on each of the databases listed for the Final Step of the Download a Database Backup (2 in this example).

9. Open File Explorer and go to your Downloads folder.

10. Locate you home directory backup file (will be named 'backup-[your ePantherID].soisweb.uwm.edu-[date backup was created].tar.gz' and single-click on the file to select it.

11. Locate your database backup files (will be named '[your ePantherID]_[the name of the database].sql.gz' and hold down the shift key while you single click on each database file to select them.

12. Right-click on the selected files and click on Copy in the pop-up menu.

13. Within File Explorer, navigate to the location or device you are going to use to save the backup files (I'm using my USB drive that has been assigned drive letter D).

14. Right-click the blank space in the File Explorer window and click Paste in the pop-up menu.
