Known Issues - Incorrect University Name When Searching UWM on Google

There is an ongoing issue where uwm.edu websites are being displayed with the wrong university name. While the names are incorrect, clicking on the result links will take you to the correct page as long as it is from a uwm.edu website.

Issue

When searching for UWM services and programs on Google and other search engines, the results might show a different university's name instead of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. 

Effects

  • This issue has no effects on actual UWM website content. As long as the website you are visiting is part of the uwm.edu domain, you can be sure it is part of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's webspace and not other universities.

Resolution

  • We are working with Google to ensure our website titles are displayed correctly during searches. There is no current estimated time for the resolution of this issue.
