EndNote

EndNote is a citation management application. It is widely used by researchers and grant writers at UWM. This article covers information about installation, version compatibility, and licensing.

Compatibility

Newer versions of EndNote are more likely to be compatible with newer versions of Microsoft Office. There is no exhaustive list of compatible versions. See: https://endnote.com/product-details/compatibility/
Computers running Microsoft 365 (formerly known as ProPlus) will need EndNote X8 (specifically the X8.2 update) or newer to use Cite While You Write with Microsoft Word.

How do I purchase the latest version of EndNote?

Submit the purchasing request form. After the purchase has been processed, you will be emailed a link to install the software and the licensing information for your new EndNote license.
The email will also contain the serial number and activation key for your EndNote license. We recommend you keep a copy of this for your own records. You will need the license information to install EndNote.

Can I install my EndNote license on more than one computer?

Each individual EndNote license may be installed on up to three computers, but should only be used by one user at a time.
The intention of this licensing model is that each EndNote user should have their own license, which is not to be used on more than three computers.
For more details, see: https://endnote.com/license

How many times can I re-install EndNote?

There are no limitations on re-installing the application. Just make sure the application is not being installed on more than three active computers.
