M365 Outlook (How To) Remove Addresses from the AutoComplete List
The AutoComplete list saves email addresses when sending emails in Outlook. This list appears when the user is typing an in the To, CC, BCC fields of an email.
Outlook Web App
Remove an address from your AutoComplete List
- In Outlook on the Web, click the New button to begin composing a new email.
- In the To: field, begin typing the email address you would like to remove.
- In the AutoComplete List that appears below the To: field, move your mouse over the email address you would like to remove and click the X that appears on the right.
Clear the entire AutoComplete List
- Switch to the Light version of Outlook on the Web. Instructions to that can be found here
- Near the top-right corner, click Options
- In the left-side menu, click Messaging
- Under "E-Mail Name Resolution", click Clear Most Recent Recipients list...
Outlook (Windows and Mac)
Remove an address from your AutoComplete List
- Open Outlook.
- Click the Mail tab on the bottom of the screen to view the mailbox.
- Click New Email.
- In the New Email window, begin typing the email address you would like to remove in the To: field.
- In the AutoComplete List that appears below the To: field, move your mouse over the email address you would like to remove and click the X that appears on the right.
Clear the entire AutoComplete List (only available on Windows)
- Open Outlook.
- Click File at the top.
- Click Options Select the Mail tab in the left-side menu.
- Scroll down to the "Send messages" section and click the Empty Auto-Complete List button.
