(How To) Audit Classes

A few guidelines regarding auditing a class.

  • Undergrad Auditors:  Find specific courses in the  Schedule of Classes then contact the UWM Admissions Office by phone number at 414-229-2222 or via email at undergraduateadmissions@uwm.edu.
  • Graduate Auditors:  Find specific courses in the  Schedule of Classes, then contact the UWM Graduate Program Administration at 414-229-6569  or via email at gradschool@uwm.edu.
  • 60+/Disabled Auditors:  Individuals who are either 60+ years old or disabled can follow the process described at 60+ And Disabled Auditors
Classes that require instructor consent to audit or never can be taken for audit are marked in the Schedule of Classes. 

Course auditing is generally not permitted during UWinteriM.

Auditors should discuss course work and attendance requirements with the instructor during the first week of class. Auditors should contact their professor regarding any concerns with prerequisites as professors can add students to a class regardless of prerequisites being met or not.

Auditors of any class held in the Klotsche Center and Pavilion are permitted to use the Klotsche Center and Pavilion facilities by enrolling into an RSF Auditing Membership (a lab fee of $75 is required for all classes). Any auditor, dissertator, off-campus student who has not paid the mandatory student fee must do so in the Office of Student Accounts prior to using the Klotsche Center or Pavilion facilities.
