Rave Engage - Electronic Emergency Alert Pop-up on UWM Owned Machines

UWM has updated its emergency notifications to include laptop and desktop alerts on university-owned devices. The desktop alerts will be issued in the event of a campus emergency and will complement the Rave alerts that appear in UWM email and via text.

On Oct. 5, the software was installed on all UWM-owned laptops, desktops and digital display screens across campus.

During an emergency, alerts will appear across computer screens and on digital display screens in buildings around campus. The alerts will fill a typical desktop or laptop screen and will remain there until the emergency has expired. Users will be able to close the window by clicking a button at the bottom of the alert window.

Details will be shared as to what and where the emergency is, along with some direction. Here is a generic example of what the emergency alert window will look like:

Emergency alerts automatically appear in UWM email for all faculty, staff and students. Students are automatically enrolled to receive text alerts. In addition, the campus community can opt in to receive alerts through the Rave Guardian app. The new desktop alert system will be used as part of the emergency alert communications and your UWM owned computer cannot opt out of these critical safety alerts.
