Thunderbird (Troubleshooting) Outlook Email Fails to Load
This article describes how to fix a common issue with Thunderbird not being able to access Outlook emails. The issue is generally resolved through re-logging into Outlook on the Web (OWA) and then restarting the Thunderbird user.
- Ensure that you are using Thunderbird 77.0b1 or later to ensure that you have access to OAuth2, which is necessary for using Thunderbird with your UWM Outlook account. If you are using an earlier version, please update.
- To set up modern authentication on your Thunderbird account, refer to the following UWM KnowledgeBase article: Thunderbird - Configure OAuth2 (Modern Authentication).
If your Thunderbird user continues failing to load Outlook, follow these steps:
- Go to https://office.com
- Login using your UWM Outlook account.
- If you do not encounter an error logging into your account on Outlook on the Web, sign out of the account and relaunch Thunderbird. This should allow you to access your Outlook emails on Thunderbird.
