Spirion

Spirion is a security tool for UWM Windows computers that can be used to identify and secure sensitive data.

What does Spirion do?

Spirion assists you in preventing identity theft by finding personally identifiable information and providing you with the ability to easily and quickly protect it before it is stolen.  You can search many areas of your computer for private information and take action to secure it.

Some types of data that Spirion helps identify include:

  • Social security numbers
  • Credit Card Numbers
  • Passwords

Access to Spirion

Spirion is installed automatically on all UWM-managed Windows computers.

Setting up the Spirion Profile

Upon running Spirion for the first time, you are prompted to set a password for a user profile. This step is optional.

See "Your Spirion Profile" in the Spirion user guide for instructions to set up a Spirion user profile.

Searching for Sensitive Data

See "Getting Started" in the Spirion user guide for instructions to scan for sensitive data.

Securing Sensitive Data

After running a Spirion search, you will be presented with a report of data identified by Spirion and several options for securing the data. An example report summary is pictured below.

There are many options for securing sensitive data that appears in your search results. See "Protecting Personal Information" in the Spirion user guide for details about security features that Spirion supports.
