Office 365 - Office 365 ProPlus Services based on Affiliation
This document describes the two subscription types a UW-Milwaukee affiliate may have and the applications/services these subscriptions have access to. Per Microsoft licensing agreement, the account types listed below have access to the following applications within UW-Milwaukee's implementation of Office 365.
|Available Applications:||Student/Faculty/Staff||Other (Sponsored Account/Annuitant/Emeritus/etc.)|
|Outlook (Email, Calendar, Contacts, Groups)||X||X|
|Office Online Apps (Word/Excel/PowerPoint Online)||X||X|
|Full List of Enabled Office 365 Features & Applications||X||X|
|Office Desktop Apps (Office 365 ProPlus)||X|
The major difference between Student/Faculty/Staff and Other affiliations is access to the Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus desktop applications on their personal devices. Student/Faculty/Staff can download Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus by following this set of instructions. Other affiliations will be redirected to a message indicating that they have not been assigned an office license that includes the Office desktop apps.
If you fall under the Other affiliation and currently have Office 365 ProPlus installed on a personal computer or university-owned computer, Office 365 ProPlus will deactivate and convert to read-only mode after a 30-day grace period. Other affiliations can continue to access Microsoft Office in campus labs (because these computers use Microsoft Office 2016/2019, not Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus).
