macOS (managed) - Installing Advertised Canon Printers
In an effort to simplify the deployment of Canon devices on campus the Windows Device Management & Apple Device Management teams have collaborated on a method to deploy Canon printers using automation. This document provides an overview of how this works in our JamfPro Cloud environment. For Macs in the JPC environment, printers can be installed manually or via Self-Service.
Adding a leased Canon printer using Self-Service
: To successfully run this policy the device MUST
be connected to the campus network via UWMWiFi
, or Global Protect VPN
if off campus. Additionally, NoMad
must be running and active in the status bar at the upper-right area of the desktop.
Run the "Check for Printers Advertised to me" utility, Self Service will close upon completion, The "Printing" category will appear on the left.
Click the "Printing" category on the left menu bar and install or re-install the desired printer
Note: This utility will only show leased Canon devices, other printers are not currently advertised using this method
The installed printer should be visible and available in "Printers & Scanners" on the System Preferences pane.
