D2L - Course FAQ for Students and Instructors

This knowledge explains how to activate course sites for instructors and how to access course sites for students.


Troubleshooting:

Why can't I see my courses for the upcoming semester?


Everyone:
  • Remove filters in My Courses, and make sure departments and terms are expanded. 
Student:
  • Is course activated? The instructor has not activated the course and it will be hidden from students until activated. Student should contact instructor for guidance.
  • When did student enroll? PAWS may have not yet synchronized with D2L (occurs at 2:00 a.m.Tuesday through Saturday). Student will not appear in Classlist until D2L catches up.
  • Client is not properly enrolled for the course.

What should a student do when a quiz freezes?

Student:
  • Do not close the window that is frozen. Open a new browser window (not a new tab) and log back into the D2L quiz to continue taking it.
Instructor:

What does it mean when a client cannot be found in D2L?


Student:
  • PAWS did not synchronize with D2L yet.
  • The student has not enrolled in courses

When do D2L and PAWS synchronize?


If a student enrolled for classes in PAWS BEFORE 8pm, it will sync the next business day or two business days.  If they enrolled AFTER 8pm, the sync may take an additional day to process. The sync starts at 2am on Tuesday through Saturday.
