Duo - Self-Service Options

You can manage your Duo configuration using Duo's different self-service options from the Duo Prompt screen, via the UWM Duo Self-Service page. Setting Default Authentication Options

If you authenticate with more than one device, you can specify which you would like to be the default. Open a private/incognito browser tab. From the Duo Prompt screen, via the Duo Self-Service page, click the My Settings & Devices link on the left-hand side:



Then, choose an authentication method and complete two-factor authentication to manage your devices. Click the Default Device drop-down menu and pick your default device for authentication:



To exit My Settings & Devices, click the Back to login or click the UWM logo on the left.


Managing Automatic Push Notifications

You can enable or disable automatic push requests. Open a private/incognito browser tab. From the Duo Prompt screen, via the Duo Self-Service page, click the My Settings & Devices link on the left-hand side:



Then, choose an authentication method and complete two-factor authentication. Click the When I log in drop-down menu and select Automatically send this device a Duo Push if you want to enable an automatic push upon logging in or select Ask me to choose an authentication method if you want to leave the automatic Duo Push off:



To exit My Settings & Devices, click the Back to login or click the UWM logo on the left.


Reactivate Duo Mobile

If you replaced your phone or tablet and/or upgraded to a new model, you will need to reactivate Duo Mobile to get Duo Push working on your device. Open a private/incognito browser tab. From the Duo Prompt screen, via the Duo Self-Service page, click the My Settings & Devices link on the left-hand side:



You will need to choose a secondary authentication method, such as a Duo Hardware Token, U2F, or other iOS or Android and complete two-factor authentication in order to access My Settings & Devices. If you do not have a secondary authentication method associated with your account, you can generate a Duo Bypass Code. In order to generate a Duo bypass code, you will need to provide your Campus ID (student number), your birth date, and answers to your security questions in order to verify your identity.

If you have not previously set responses to your security questions or cannot provide the requested information to verify your identity, please contact the UWM Help Desk at (414) 229-4040, toll free at (877) 381-3459, visit Bolton Hall 225, or submit a request online at gettechhelp.uwm.edu.




Click Device Options next to the device which you want to reactivate:



Click Reactivate Duo Mobile for the device:



Click I have Duo Mobile installed:



On your iOS or Android device, scan the barcode with the app's built-in scanner and then follow the platform-specific instructions for your device. Once you scan the barcode successfully, click the Continue button and your device will be reactivated in Duo Mobile:




Change Device Name

You can rename your device which will change the display name of your device in the Duo Mobile app (hardware tokens cannot be renamed). Open a private/incognito browser tab. From the Duo Prompt screen, via the Duo Self-Service page, click the My Settings & Devices link on the left-hand side:



Then, choose an authentication method and complete two-factor authentication. Click Device Options next to the device which you want to rename:



Click on Change Device Name, enter the new display name of the device, and then click Save:



To exit My Settings & Devices, click the Back to login or click the UWM logo on the left.


Add a New Device

You can add additional devices as methods of authentication in Duo. If you have not previously enrolled any devices in Duo, please follow the Duo Enrollment GuideOpen a private/incognito browser tab. Then, to enroll additional devices, from the Duo Prompt screen, via the Duo Self-Service page, click the Add a new device link on the left-hand side:



You will need to choose a secondary authentication method, such as a Duo Hardware Token, U2F, or other iOS or Android and complete two-factor authentication in order to add a new device.



Select the type of device you would like to add and then click Continue:



Click I have Duo Mobile installed:



On your iOS or Android device, scan the barcode with the app's built-in scanner and then follow the platform-specific instructions for your device. Once you scan the barcode successfully, click the Continue button and your device will be activated in Duo Mobile:



Remove a Device

If your new device is replacing the one you previously enrolled, you can remove the device you won't be using any more for authentication. Open a private/incognito browser tab. From the Duo Prompt screen, via the Duo Self-Service page, click the My Settings & Devices link on the left-hand side:



Then, choose an authentication method and complete two-factor authentication. Click Device Options next to the device which you want to remove:



Click the trash can button to delete the device:



Click the Remove button to confirm deleting the device and it will be removed from your Duo profile:



To exit My Settings & Devices, click the Back to login or click the UWM logo on the left.
