Migrate your BATO computer to the UWM domain

Use these instructions to migrate a workstation from HBSSW, SOE, or CHS to the primary UWM domain.

Windows 10 instructions are below the Windows 7 instructions.

If you have a laptop, you must come to UWM campus to perform these steps! A hard-wired internet connection is preferred over WiFi.

Windows 7 Instructions

  1. Click the Start button in the lower-left corner.

  2. In the Search bar, type Software Center:

  3. search for software center in windows 7


  4. In the search results, select Software Center. The Software Center opens in a new window.

  5. In the Available Software tab, find Migrate BATO.

  6. Check the box next to Migrate BATO and then click Install Selected in the bottom-right corner.




  7. A status box will appear briefly. Your computer will restart twice. This will typically take 5-20 minutes to complete.



  8. After the second restart, sign in using your ePanther ID password.

Post-Migration considerations

  • If you are unable to sign in after the migration, please try rebooting your computer. Be sure you are using your ePanther ID and password (the same password you use for O365, D2L, etc.)
  • If you encounter any problems after your migration, please contact support@uwm.edu. 
  • Some drive letter for network shares may be different than they were before. The files and folders will be the same, however.
  • You may need to re-add certain printers. See these instructions: https://kb.uwm.edu/page.php?id=56839
  • If you use Remote Desktop to connect to your computer from off-campus, remember to use your ePanther ID & Password. You can use these instructions: https://kb.uwm.edu/page.php?id=47192
