EZ-Care FoxPro - ODBC Database Connections

Overview of ODBC connections required for the use of Visual FoxPro database used in the EZ-Care software from Children's Learning Center.

Intended Audience

Support staff troubleshooting ODBC settings for FoxPro database used in Children's Learning Center EZ-Care system.

The Children's Learning Center uses the software EZ-Care which is based on a Visual FoxPro database to manage bus access for children. If the settings are not set as you see below it will likely cause issues with operation of the software. The files that store the data are located on a network drive \\sa-excare1\share\SOFTER\EZCARE2\Data\C0000189.  The driver for Visual FoxPro is installed through the "EZ-CARE2 Workstation" deployment in SCCM to all computers in the Children's Learning Center device collection.

  1. Begin by launching the ODBC Data Source Administrator on the client computer, by launching C:\Windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe as an administrator.

  2. If the SCCM deployment has been installed you will see two entries for Visual FoxPro drivers under the System DNS tab.
  3. The settings for the Visual FoxPro Database ODBC should be as follows:

FoxPro ODBC Settings

4. If issues occur verify that the computer is in the correct OU in AD (Children's Learning Center) as that determines its membership in the Children's Learning Center device collection (SCCM) which deploys the software, drivers and ODBC entries. The Group Policy applied to that OU also maps the drive seen in the settings above where the data files reside.
