FSS - Database Connections

Overview of ODBC connections required for the FSS client

Intended Audience

Enterprise staff going through FSS administration training.

FSS is a client - server program that is installed on a large number of computers in Student Affairs. The primary way that this program connects to the server is through an ODBC connection. This document details the proper setup of this connection, though it is configured by the FSS installer and generally won't require changes.

  1. Begin by launching the ODBC Data Source Administrator on the client computer, by launching C:\Windows\syswow64\odbcad32.exe as an administrator.

  2. Under the tab System DSN there should be an entry called "cbord_asa16" using driver "SQL Anywhere 16 - FMS" If this driver does not exist, click Add... to begin the new data source wizard.
    1. In the wizard that opens, select the driver "SQL Anywhere 16 - FMS" and then click Finish.
    2. In the window that opens, make changes in the ODBC and Login tabs to match the following screenshots
