GuestPass (Windows) - Deployment Information

GuestPass is a client-server application that is used by Housing, in Security and the Residence Life offices. It connects to the odyssey database used by HMS/PCS, and it is used to control access to the buildings by students and their guests. It is installed on all Security computers and many of the office computers in Housing buildings. Security swipes the ID cards of every student and their guests and the GuestPass application lets the Security staff know whether they are allowed in the building, while Residence Life staff use GuestPass to enact bans on problem guests or students who have been kicked out of Housing.

The server portion of the application runs on Chaos.ad.uwm.edu, as a service. The GuestPass application also downloads a copy of the resident database onto each machine during use, allowing the GuestPass system to work even during network outages. 

Installation Steps

This application is installed via SCCM using an AD group to control which computers receive it. The AD group that controls this is SA-Software Deployment-Guestpass located in ad.uwm.edu/SA/Groups/Security/Software Deployment - Unlimited License. The application will then install via the Software Center automatically.

Creating An Account

For account creation we will have to gather the user's epanther id and assign a task for enterprise.
