Overview for the OneDrive Desktop Client


The OneDrive Sync client is an application that allows you to sync your files directly from your desktop, making them available on the OneDrive Service. 

This document pertains specifically to the OneDrive Sync client. For more information on the OneDrive Service, visit (Insert link to doc here).


The OneDrive sync client allows users to sync their document libraries from their desktop to the online OneDrive Service. It has essentially replaced their traditional PantherFile storage.

The client can only be installed on macOS or Windows operating systems. For details on installation please visit the following documents:
Once the installation is complete the client can begin adding files to the OneDrive folder that appears on their computer. All of the files that already exist in their OneDrive will appear in the folder that was created during the sync client installation.

Service Levels

Help Desk

  • Installing the client when requested
  • Troubleshooting common issues
  • Answering questions of clients about the service
  • Assisting clients with file uploads/downloads ect.


  • Advanced support of technical issues that the Help Desk can't solve, particularly with the client, not the service.


  • Problems with the service 


  • Hosts the OneDrive Cloud servers
  • Provides support for issues that can't be resolved within the university

The Help Desk is responsible for assisting clients in installation, but ultimately Endpoint is responsible for support of the client. 

Issues with the service itself must be forwarded to UITS.
