Outlook (OS X) - Troubleshooting - "Message could not be saved" error

When attempting to send a message in outlook, a message appears indicating that "the message could not be saved".

When attempting to send a message in outlook, a message appears indicating that "the message could not be saved".

Steps to take

  • Completely quit Microsoft Outlook - An easy way to do this is to go to your dock and right click (or hold control + click) select "Quit" and wait for the dot below the application to disappear

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Conduct a Spotlight search (Cmd + Space) for "Self Service" and open Self Service

  • Go to the Category "Tools & First Aid" on the right hand side

  • Locate "Repair Disk Permissions" and click "repair" 
  • Wait for the progress bar at the top to complete

Once the progress bar is done you can re-open Outlook and the "Message could not be saved" error should no longer occur.
