Introduction to the Software Asset Management Office (SAM).

Software Asset Management (SAM) is a subset of the larger Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) business discipline. In the book ITIL's guide to Software Asset Management, SAM is defined as all of the infrastructure and processes necessary for the effective management, control and protection of software assets...throughout all stages of their life-cycle.'

The goals of SAM are:

  2. Manage license
  3. Manage risks
