Software - Removing Old Version of OpenVPN

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) uses public communications infrastructure to create a private data network using various tunneling protocols and security procedures. It allows users working from various locations to be part of the same network.


If you were previously using the OpenVPN client, you will need to uninstall it. To access the new VPN, please go to and log in with your ePanther ID and password. After clicking Go, there will be a link to install the software required to make VPN connections to campus.

On Windows:
1. Click the Start Button in the lower left.

2. Select Control Panel.

3. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

4. Find OpenVPN on the list of program and right click on it. Select Uninstall.

5. Follow the prompts Windows provides.

6. Reboot the machine and go to
On Mac:
1. Open Finder, then click on the Go Menu and Go to folder.

2. In the Go to Folder window, type /Library/Application Support/OpenVPN/

3. In the resulting window, double click on Uninstall OpenVPN

4. Uninstall Open VPN by following the prompts.

5. Reboot your computer after the uninstall is complete.

6. After machine has rebooted, go to, login, download the updated client and install the new version.
