Canvas - Account Roles and Permissions

This article shows the breakdown and comparison of account level roles in Canvas. These are Admin roles NOT instructor roles.

Account Level Roles and Permissions

These roles are used to grant access to groups of courses at the school/college, department, or area-level (also known as sub-accounts). They are generally used by administrative, instructional or student support staff. Roles for use in individual courses are listed in Canvas - Course Role Checklist and Comparison .

Permissions that are "Locked" are enforced regardless of the user's roles elsewhere in Canvas.
