TurningPoint Clickers - How to add TurningPoint to your course in Canvas

This tutorial guides instructors in adding a TurningPoint external tool link to their Canvas course.

In order for student clicker data to be recorded and imported to Canvas grade tools, students must visit their TurningPoint account at least once through a course external tool link. For your student's convenience, follow these instructions to add a link to your Canvas course.

How to add a TurningPoint link to your course

  1. Open your Canvas course.
  2. Click the +Module button at the top of the page.
  3. Enter a name for the new module, then click the Add Module button.
    1. Recommended: name the new module “TurningPoint Clickers”
  4. In the new Module, click the grey + button. The Add Item window appears.
  5. In the Add menu, click External Tool.
  6. From the list, click TurningPoint.

This image highlights the module + button the Extern tool drop down and the turningpoint link.

  7. Scroll down if necessary, then check "Load in a new tab"
  8. Click the Add Item button.

It may be appropriate to re-order your modules and items so the new TurningPoint Clickers item appears at the top of your courses modules.
