This evening, Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m., the enterprise Application Delivery Controller devices will be undergoing emergency maintenance.

What is happening?

During this maintenance window, there may be brief periods when accessing the following services will be unsuccessful:

  • 1Login
  • pantherFILE
  • PAWS
  • UWM.edu home page and CommonSpot  / ColdFusion web sites.
Most other services, including Office 365 and UWM.edu WordPress sites will be unaffected by this work.

Customers who have already logged in to D2L, my.Wisconsin.edu, and other services utilizing 1Login will not be logged out, but any actions that require a new 1Login authentication may be affected during this window.

Why is this work necessary?

This emergency maintenance need occurred after earlier maintenance to update the Application Delivery Controller systems to the recommended firmware level prior to the start of the academic year was unable to complete successfully.   Additional UWM and vendor support staff have been made available during this window in an effort to diagnose and resolve the items that were not successful during the prior work.

What happens if this maintenance is unsuccessful?

If we are unable to successfully complete the update during this emergency maintenance window, the application delivery controller service will be returned to a fully operational state by reverting to a known good configuration. UWM and vendor staff will utilize the diagnostic information collected to determine the next steps.
