Connecting Vevox to an Assignment in Canvas

When linking a Vevox session to a Canvas assignment, instructors must complete an important step to ensure students can successfully access the session. If this step is missed, students may be unable to log in using QR codes or join codes.

Please ensure that your Vevox assignment in Canvas is fully connected to your Vevox session with the following directions.

Step 1

Step 2

  • Initialize the link from Canvas to Vevox
    • Select on your newly created Vevox Canvas assignment

    • You will see a message prompting you to load the assignment in a new window
    • Select the "Load [Assignment Name] in a new window" button.

Step 3

  • Redirect and link to Vevox
    • You should now be redirected to Vevox
    • You should see a button that reads "Open in New Tab" within Vevox

Step 4

  • Your Vevox session should now be fully enabled with the Canvas assignment
    • Students will now be able to login to your session through the Canvas assignment, the session QR code, or the session join code.

Important Notes

  • This process only needs to completed once for each assignment.
  • Perform this setup immediately after creating each Vevox Assignment in Canvas.
  • If students report issues joining a Vevox session linked to Canvas, double-check that you have completed this initialization step.
