Canvas – Integration – Hypothesis
Hypothesis is approved for use within the Digital Learning Environment (DLE). This product requires an institution license and Memorandum of Understanding. Contact your institutional Canvas administrator for more information.
Hypothesis enables students to collaboratively annotate Canvas web pages and files, public web pages and PDF files. Annotation activities (see: https://www.chronicle.com/article/annotate-this-how-a-common-academic-practice-can-boost-learning) can be used as module topics and as assignments. As an assignment, annotations appear in SpeedGrader.
Hypothesis must be licensed by each institution. Institutions may contact Hypothes.is for pricing and to arrange a pilot.
Interested faculty and staff should contact their institutional admin if they are interested in using this tool.
Once the tool is enabled, instructors are free to make annotation activities in their course.
