Publishing a video uploaded to My Media in Canvas
This tutorial will show you how to publish a video that has been uploaded to My Media in Canvas. In most situations, you shouldn't need to publish My Media videos. I you use the instructions prepared by CETL, any video uploaded will be available to students enrolled in a course site. The exception to this is if you are sharing a link to a My Media video and that link was obtained in the Kaltura Capture Library after the screen capture was recorded and uploaded.
Step #1:
After logging into Canvas, click on the Account tab in Global Navigation then click the My Media tab.
Step #2
Identify the media file that you'd like to publish and click the blue linked title.
Step #3
You'll see a window displaying a preview of your video. Pull down the Actions menu on the bottom right and select the Publish option.
Step #4
Clic the Publish radio button and then select check the box in front of the course title. This is the Canvas course site in which you'd like others in view your video. Scroll to the bottom and click the Save button.
Important:
Please note, this is not the preferred method for sharing video. Please embed the video in your Canvas course site, rather than making a link. For assistance with embedding a My Media video please contact your instructor. Instructor may contact CETL for additional instructions on embedding My Media video in Canvas course sites.
