Canvas - Enrolling in and Accessing a Course (Students) ID: 144921

This article explains how UWM students can enroll in and access Canvas courses through an invitation, self-enrollment link, or Canvas Catalog.

Accept a Course Invitation

When an instructor invites you to a Canvas course, Canvas sends an invitation to the email address associated with your account. You must accept the invitation before you can access the course.

  1. Open your email inbox.
  2. Find the message with Course Invitation in the subject line.
  3. Open the message and select Get Started.

  1. If prompted, log in with your ePanther ID and password.
  2. Select Accept to join the course.

Tip: You can also go to UWM Canvas, log in, and accept the invitation from Dashboard.

Use a Self-Enrollment Link

Your instructor may send the self-enrollment link by email. If you do not see the message, check your Spam folder.

  1. Open the self-enrollment link from your instructor.

  1. If prompted, log in with your ePanther ID and password.
  2. On the self-enrollment page, select Enroll in Course.

Enroll Through Canvas Catalog

If your instructor sends you a Canvas Catalog course link, open the link and follow the enrollment prompts. Otherwise, use the following steps.

Log In to Canvas

  1. Go to the UWM Canvas website.
  2. Under Canvas for UW-Milwaukee, select Log in to Canvas for UWM.
  3. Enter your ePanther ID and password.
  4. In Global Navigation, select Courses.

Browse and Enroll in a Course

  1. Select All Courses.
  2. Select Browse More Courses.
  3. Find the course you want to join, then select Join this Course.
  4. In the confirmation prompt, select Enroll in Course.

Access Your Course

  1. Go to the UWM Canvas website.
  2. Under Canvas for UW-Milwaukee, select Log in to Canvas for UWM.
  3. Enter your ePanther ID and password.
  4. Open the course from Dashboard. If the course is not displayed, select Courses, select All Courses, and open the course from the full course list.
