How to Access VHL Central and Redeem your Access Code

Getting Started

Your course requires a textbook package that includes a textbook and an access code for the Supersite in VHL Central – Vista Higher Learning’s online learning platform. This is where you will access your digital workbook, assignments, and course materials. Follow the steps below to create your account and get started. 

Need to Purchase Your Textbook Package?

You must purchase your textbook package through the UWM School of Continuing Education bookstore to receive a valid access code.

Purchase your textbook package directly through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Continuing Education’s Vista Higher Learning (UWM SCE) virtual bookstore website. 

✅Important: Only purchases made through this bookstore include the required VHL Central access code. Access codes are not available from other retailers.

Returning Students

If you already have a VHL Central account:

1. Go to VHL Central login page
2. Log in using your existing username and password
3. Choose one of the following options:
   • If you have already redeemed your access code, select Enroll in another course (Continue to Step 4: Enroll in your Course)
   • If you have a new access code, select Redeem a New Code. (Continue to Step 5: Redeem a Code).

Then continue to Enroll in Your Course below.

New Students

If you’re new to Vista Higher Learning, follow steps 1-5 below or watch the tutorial video Create a VHL Central Account & Enroll in a Course.

Step 1: Go to VHL Central

Step 2: Account Setup

If you purchased your textbook through our Vista Higher Learning bookstore, you may be able to log in using your bookstore credentials and skip to Step 4.

Create your account

1. Select Create an Account
2. Enter the required information:
   • Username
   • Email address
   • Password
   • Security information

Step 3: Select Your School

1. Select Enroll in a course
2. In the search field, enter:
   University of Wisconsin–School of Continuing Education, Milwaukee, WI
3. Select the school from the results
4. Select Next to confirm

Note: If your course is not listed, enrollment may not be available yet. Try again on the first day of class.

Step 4: Enroll in Your Course

1. Select your textbook from the left panel
2. Locate your course section on the right, and click the plus sign. 
3. Click Enroll in the bottom right to confirm enrollment.
4. If you previously redeemed this access code, you will see a confirmation that you are successfully enrolled. 
5. If prompted to redeem a code, continue below. 

Step 5: Redeem a Code

1. Locate your access code in your textbook purchase confirmation email from Vista Higher Learning. 
   • The Invoice is sent from storesupport@vistahigherlearning.com.
2. Copy and paste the code into VHL Central when prompted to enter your access code. 

Key Terms

• VHL Central: Vista Higher Learning’s online platform where you access your course materials. 
• Access code: A code included with your textbook purchase that allows you to activate your course materials.
• Supersite / Supersite Plus: The course website within VHL Central where your assignments, activities, and textbook resources are located.
• WebSAM (Student Activity Manual): Online Workbook add-on with additional in-depth online activities.
