Canvas Portfolios - Creating a Showcase Portfolio

This article explains how to create a showcase portfolio to share your learning.

Creating a Showcase Portfolio

Select Create showcase portfolio on the upper right corner of the Portfolios home page.

Adding Portfolio Details

After creating a Showcase Portfolio, you can add a Portfolio name, an optional Cover image, and a Description.

Adding Evidence

Select Add evidence, then choose Add assignment from course or Create new evidence.

Note: Tags added to your evidence display in the Tags section.

Adding Assignments from Courses

Select the checkbox next to the assignment you wish to add as evidence to your portfolio.

Select the review icon on the upper right corner of the assignment to view the assignment details.

Use search to find assignments.

Select a course to filter search results.

Select Add to confirm the assignments you wish to add as evidence.

Adding Multiple Assignments from Courses

In the Add submitted assignments page, select the desired assignments, then select Add.

Note: Edited evidence does not sync with Canvas assignments. Changes made in one location do not carry over to the other.

Separate Course Assignment cards are created and displayed in the Evidence section. To Edit, Duplicate, or Delete, select the desired assignment's Options.

Creating New Evidence

Select the evidence type between a Project, Extracurricular activity, or Professional experience.

Note: These types are solely for organizational purposes.

Adding Details

In the following menu, add a Title and an optional Description to your evidence.

Uploading Images

Select the image icon to upload an image.

Note: Upload size is limited to 50 MB.

Uploading Videos

Select the video icon to upload a video.

Note: Upload size is limited to 50 MB. Uploaded videos are downloadable from the portfolio.

Embedding Content

To embed content in the Rich Text Editor, select the HTML editor icon.

Adding Tags

Add tags in the Add tags field, using commas to separate multiple tags. Select Add to finalize your tags. They will display as pills below the Add tags field.

Adding a Reflection

Use the Reflection field to add an optional reflection to your evidence.

Note: As the Reflection field uses a Rich Text Editor, you can add images and videos.

Adding Attachments

Select Add files to attach files to your evidence.

Select Add links to attach links to your evidence.

Select Add assignment submission to add previously submitted assignments to your evidence.

Saving Evidence

Select Create to save and finalize your evidence.

Adding Sections

Select Add section.

To order or delete sections, select Manage sections.

Adding Existing Evidence to Sections

After adding a section, add a name and select which evidence you would like to include in the section.

Managing Sections and Evidence

Sections can be renamed via the Section name field and reordered using the arrows on the side of their name.

Evidence can be reordered within and between sections using drag and drop.

Saving and Publishing Your Portfolio

Select Save as draft to save a private draft of your portfolio.

Select Publish portfolio to publish your portfolio and make it available for sharing.

Sharing Your Portfolio

When your portfolio is published, you can select Share to generate a sharable link of your portfolio or share directly to LinkedIn.

You can select Export to export your portfolio as a PDF or HTML file, or as a bulk file download.

Editing Your Portfolio

When your portfolio is published, you can select Edit next to your portfolio name to continue making changes to it.

Deleting Your Portfolio

Select Delete next to your portfolio name to delete your portfolio.

Note: This is permanent and cannot be recovered.

Viewing Evidence Feedback

Select the evidence you want to review feedback for.

For Projects, Extracurricular Activities, and Professional Experience evidence, you can view your instructor’s review status and any comments they have provided.

Use Add a comment... to respond to comments.

Select Share to share your evidence.
