Course Evaluations in Explorance Blue: Student FAQ

This FAQ explains how UWM students complete course evaluations in Explorance Blue, including where to find evaluation links, why some courses may not appear, how reminders work, and what happens when students add or drop a course. It also explains that submitted evaluations are final and that students may see separate instructor questions when a course has multiple instructors.

Where do I complete my course evaluations?

Course evaluations can be accessed via Canvas or a direct link sent to your student email.

Canvas:

In your Canvas course site, click on the “Course Evaluations” link on the left navigation menu. This will take you to a page that provides further instructions for completing your evaluations.

Student Email:

When course evaluations are ready, you will receive an email from "UWM Course Evaluations (surveys@courseevaluations.uwm.edu)" with a subject line of "Course Evaluations are now open – your feedback is requested!". This email contains a link to your course evaluations.

Can I submit a course evaluation late?

No. The deadline for course evaluations cannot be extended.

Will I get a separate email for each of my courses?

No. You should receive one email that lists all of your available course evaluations. Use the link in that email to complete the evaluations for your courses.

Why don’t I see an evaluation for one of my courses?

You might not see an evaluation for several reasons:

  • Many departments do not yet use Explorance Blue. Check-in with your instructor or the UWM Help Desk for more information.
  • Some courses may not have an evaluation available. For example, courses with fewer than five students are not evaluated so that student responses remain anonymous.
  • Some courses may also be listed in separate sections in PAWS. If those sections are counted separately, each section must have enough students to receive an evaluation.

Can I change my answers after I submit an evaluation?

No. After you submit an evaluation, your response is final. Please review your answers before submitting.

Which courses have evaluations?

Many graded course sections listed in PAWS receive course evaluations. Some non-graded sections, such as certain labs or discussion sections, may not have separate evaluations.

When do I need to submit course evaluations by?

In the email you receive requesting your feedback for course evaluations, you will be given a deadline for submitting your course evaluations. This deadline cannot be extended.

What happens if I add or drop a course?

Explorance Blue updates automatically using PAWS enrollment information.

If you add a course, an evaluation will be added for you. If you drop or withdraw from a course, that evaluation will be removed.

Why am I seeing questions about more than one instructor?

Some courses have more than one instructor. When that happens, you will see questions about each instructor, along with questions about the course overall.

Will I get reminders?

Yes. Reminder emails are sent while course evaluations are open.

When do instructors see the course evaluation results?

Evaluation results will be made accessible to instructors approximately one week after final grades are due.

Can my instructors see my name when I submit course evaluations?

No. Course evaluations are anonymous, so instructors will not see who submitted each course evaluation.

My question isn't answered here. Who can I contact?

If you have questions or concerns, contact UWM’s Help Desk.
