Ordering a New Device
How do I get a cellular or wireless device?
You can get a cellular or wireless device by filling out the Cellular and Wireless Services Order form. All orders must be approved by your department.
What phones can I get?
There is a wide selection of phones available. Please indicate the type of phone you like in the form, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
How many minutes/data do I get with my plan?
You and your department can decide how many minutes/data are included in your plan. Unlimited minutes/data is the maximum available.
What happens if I break or lose the device?
Your billing cycle determines your options for replacing a lost or stolen device. For example, if you get your device today and break it tomorrow, it can't be replaced for 18 months.
Can you lock my device if I lose it?
Lost devices may be able to be locked remotely depending on what type of device you have. If you lose your device, please contact the UWM Help Desk for assistance.
Canceling/Returning a Device
Please note: When canceling or returning a device, you MUST disconnect service before returning your device. To cancel the device plan, please email uwmcellform@uwm.edu with the following information:
- Employee Name
- Phone Number to be disconnected
- Department/Campus Unit

I have a phone, but I do not use cellular service for it. Can I cancel my plan but keep the device for WiFi use?
Yes, you can cancel the plan and keep the device for WiFi use.
Do I need to return the device?
This is determined by the department who paid for the phone.
Will we be penalized if we don't return the device?
This is determined by the department who paid for the phone.
An employee in our department is no longer with us, and we never got the device back, what should we do?
This is determined by the department who paid for the phone.
Where do I turn in my device? (Cell phone, hot spot, etc.)
There is a drop box located in the hallway outside of Bolton 225.
Will someone pick up my device?
We do not offer device pickup.
Can I send my device back through campus mail?
Yes, you can send your device back using campus mail. Submit through mailroom services to Bolton 234.
I am no longer on campus; how can I get my device to you?
You can mail the device to Campus Technology Support (CTS). You are responsible for paying postage. Please address to:

Can I keep or purchase my device for personal use instead of returning it after the plan is canceled?
No, you cannot keep the device for personal use. If a device is not being used for UWM business, it must be returned to determine if it will be reused or sent to surplus.
What do I need to do before I turn in my device?
We recommend that you factory reset the device. Please note, Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads must be factory reset before returning.

How can I get my information off the device?
To remove your information from the device, you must factory reset the device.

Do I need to factory reset my device?
You are not required to factory reset Android Devices, but it is highly recommended that you do. Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads must be factory reset prior to being returned to Campus Technology Services (CTS).
What happens after I turn my device in?
After your device is turned in, Campus Technology Services (CTS) will destroy the sim card, wipe the phone, and determine if it will be reused or sent to surplus.
