M365 SharePoint (How To) Request a High Risk (Sensitive Information) SharePoint Site

This document describes how to request a new High Risk SharePoint site.

All UWM Office 365 users have the ability to create a SharePoint site via self-service by creating a Microsoft Team (since all Teams include a Team site) or from the SharePoint landing page page. These self-service created sites are suitable for storing low risk and moderate risk data as defined by UW System Administrative Procedure 1031.A.
Faculty, staff, and students who need to store high risk data in the SharePoint environment should complete the High Risk SharePoint Site Request form
High risk data includes, but is not limited to:
  • HIPAA
  • PCI DSS
  • FERPA
  • Financial account numbers (including credit or debit card numbers, bank account numbers)
  • PII (e.g., Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers)
  • Intellectual Property
If you have questions about the SharePoint site creation process, please contact the UWM Help Desk.
