Tech Timeouts

Tech timeouts are periods where UWM IT staff are unable to implement non-emergency changes which may affect the usability of UWM services (PAWS, Canvas, etc.).

When do tech timeouts take place?

Tech timeouts occur during the Fall and Spring semesters. There are two tech timeout periods per semester.

The scheduled tech timeouts are:

Period 1 (Fall Semesters)

  • Begins: Friday prior to the first day of instruction, beginning at 12:01 AM.
  • Ends: Monday after the first day class, ends at 11:59 PM

Period 2 (Spring Semesters)

  • Begins: 12:01 AM on Study Day.
  • Ends: 11:59 PM on the day grades are due.

The currently scheduled grading deadline for Spring 2024 is May 23.
