This article will provide instructions on installing and using the Microsoft Teams app for Android devices.

Buttons
Getting on WiFi
- Begin by opening your Settings.
- Tap on Connections.
- Turn on your Wi-Fi and make sure you connect to the UWMWiFi.
- Select the Don't validate option under the Select Certificate option.
- You will be prompted to log in with your ePantherID and password.
- Click connect to finish your WiFi set up.
Installing App for Android
- Begin by opening your Google Play Store.
- Tap on the Search button in the top menu.
- Tap to place your cursor in the search bar at the top.
- Type in Teams and press the Search button on your keyboard.
- Locate and tap on the MicrosoftTeams app.
- Tap on the green Install button
- This will install the app.
Opening Teams App and Signing In
- Locate and tap on the Teams app.
- You will be prompted to Sign in or Create an Account with Microsoft.
- Select Sign in.
- In the text box type in your email address.
- On the next screen type in your password.
- Authenticate with your desired multi-factor method.
Note: if you tap Don't ask again you will remain logged in for the specified duration.
Setting Status
- Tap your Person icon in the top left corner of your Teams app.
- Tap your current status, which is based off your Microsoft 365 Calendar.
- From the list select your desired status.
- Available
- Busy
- Do not disturb
- Be right back
- Away
- Appear offline
- Reset status
- Your new status will now be displayed.
- To sync your status back with your Microsoft 365 Calendar tap on the Reset status option from the menu.
Setting Notifications
To access your notification settings:
- Tap your Person icon in the top left corner of your Teams app.
- Tap Notifications
Setting Working Hours
- Under the Block notifications section, tap on During quiet time.
- Tap to toggle the button on for Daily quiet hours.
- Adjust your quiet hours in the Start and End sections.
- You will now be set to not receive any notifications on your phone during quiet hours.
Set Quiet days.
- Under the Block notifications section, tap on During quiet time.
- Toggle the button on for Quiet days.
- Automatically, Saturday and Sunday are selected as Quiet days in Teams. If you wish to remove Saturday and Sunday from this list, tap on each day to deselect. From there, tap on the days you wish to block notifications from the Teams app on your device.
Set your notifications not to come through on your phone when you are Active on desktop
- Navigate back to Settings > Notifications by tapping the back arrow in the top left corner of your screen.
- Under Block notifications, tap on When active on desktop.
- Toggle the button for When active on desktop.
Other Settings
Changing Light and Dark mode
- Tap your Person icon in the top left corner of your Teams app.
- Under Settings > General, tap Appearance.
- Tap on Dark.
- You will be prompted to close and restart your Teams app.
Turn Read Receipts Off
- Tap your Person icon in the top left corner of your Teams app.
- Under Settings > UWM tap Messaging.
- Tap to toggle Read receipts off. (Distinguished by the un-highlighted bubble.)
Setting Default Tabs (At the Bottom)
- Locate the Navigation bar at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap on the More... button.
- Tap the Reorder button.
- This will bring up a list of your Teams apps.
- Press and drag on the hamburger icon to the right of the app title to rearrange in your desired order.
- When you have finished rearranging your apps tap the Save button.
Note: The maximum number of apps you can have in your Navigation bar is 5.
Syncing Contacts (Your phone's existing and future contacts)
- Tap on the Calls button in your Navigation bar.
- Tap on the Phonebook button in the top right corner of your screen. (Book with a pound sign on it)
- You will be prompted whether or not you would like to give the Teams app permission to access your contacts.
- Accept the prompt to synch your contacts.
Making a Call
- Tap on the Calls button in your Navigation bar.
- Tap on the Make a call button in the lower right corner of your screen. (Purple phone with a plus sign button)
- Type the full 10-digit number in your dial pad and press the call button.
- Alternatively, tap the People heading and search by typing in the contact's name.
- You can also make a call from your call History or Voicemail sections by tapping on the call.
Receiving a Call
- When you receive a call in Teams, you will answer it the same way you answer a regular call on your device.
- You will know it is a Teams call vs a normal cell phone call because it will say Microsoft Teams Audio on the incoming call.
