SOIS Webspace (How to) - Restore your cPanel account from backup files

This document is intended to assist SOIS cPanel users restore their cPanel account from backup files they created before their original cPanel account was deleted. This document assumes that you have your home directory and database backup files that you created previously.

1. Register you new cPanel account following the instructions here (assuming you have not already done this).

2. Login to your new SOIS cPanel account here

3. Click the Backup Wizard button in the Files area

4. Click on the Restore button. restore button

5. Click the Home Directory button.

6. Click the Choose File button.choose file button

7. Navigate to the location of your backup files, click on your home directory backup file, then click the Open button.

***the home directory backup file should be in the format of 'backup-[your ePantherID].soisweb.uwm.edu-[date].tar.gz'

8. Click the Upload button.upload button

9. After the home directory upload completes; click the Go Back link.go back link

10. Click on the Databases button.

12. Navigate to the location of your backup files and click on your database file, then click the Open button.

***The database files should be in the format of '[your ePantherID]_[the name of the database].sql.gz'

14. Repeat steps 11-13 for each of your database files.

15. Visit this KnowledgeBase Document and repeat the process outlined in it for each of your databases.
